BLADDER CANCER PREVENTION
There is no safe and guaranteed way to prevent bladder cancer.
However, certain preventive measures can reduce the risk of developing bladder cancer:
- Smoking cessation: bladder cancer frequency is 2 to 3 times higher in smokers
- Avoidance of exposure to occupational chemicals: workers in a number of industries, such as paints, rubber, textile, as well as hair-salon employees must take all precautions (gloves, masks)
- Plenty of fluid intake and drink mainly water during the day: it helps urine dilute and excrete the substances responsible for bladder cancer
- Diet rich in fruit and vegetables: vegetables contain antioxidants which reduce the risk of developing cancer
